O.T. Wailua Falls, Kauai
This set of falls is normally only seen from the overlook; I climbed down into the canyon (an adventure) and waded upstream for this shot. The only thing I lost was my cell phone (it drowned).

After getting there I felt like I was in Jurassic Park - the only sound was the waterfall, not a sign of people, tropical jungle everywhere. Then I heard a noise, turned around, and there stood one of the famous Kauai road warrior chickens. I cannot figure out how it got there.

D-80, Tokina 12-24 at 12mm, f16, ISO 100. Aperture priority. Processed in NX-2 for contrast, some burning & dodging.

I always love shots from my favorite place in the world. And this one is very nice. My friend and his wife did this hike, and came back with mosquito bites all over their legs and arms. They said it was a tough scramble in places. I think your pp work renders this very accurate to the place. I would clone out that bird(?) at the top of the picture, but that's my only nit.

Morris:

Thanks, it was definitely worth the hike! Those are overhanging leaves. I don't know how I missed them, but now that you pointed them out, they're all I can see. They are now gone in the master.

This is extra nice. Especially the rainbow peaking out at the bottom of the falls. :toast:

NIce, Dan! Those darn chickens are EVERYWHERE in Kauai! They seem so out of place in such a tropical climate, don't they?

Nice shot. I've been down there a few times, although I pretty much climbed down the wall using the tree roots as my repelling ropes. Probably not the safest thing to do. I think most of my shots are just to the left of this one. Yours is a really cool location.
