The Art of The Dunes
I've been trending toward more abstract views of the Dunes, probably cause you just need sunlight and no ridiculous sunsets or clouds to get good results  I think i got about 20 or so shots i was happy with Sunday afternoon, as opposed to a more typical 1 or two.
Here's a sampler, more at ESS (i also posted a wider view on M&N)
I just love taking these shots of sand blowing off the dunecrests!

Kind of Einstein meets the Weed

i really like the first one! the grass distracts me in #2. I'd print that first one and stick it in my office in a heartbeat.

and #4 is awesome!

I believe it's about book time now.
I agree with Amy about the weeds in that second one. I was wishing they weren't there before I read her comment. But that light on the middle dune is unreal. Great work on all of these Stan.

Thanks Morris. Believe it or not, the weed is why i took the shot, it disturbs the nice curve in the dunes, kind of gets sucked up in that time-space bend. Maybe ill do a whole series of weeds for the book--think it would sell?

#1 and #3 are my favorites. Keep them coming.

I love the minimalist shot! You're really racking up some productive time at GSD, Stan....

Your time spent at the dunes is paying some great dividends for you Stan. They all look damn nice!

Stan #! is a very nice graphic! Love the line and the blowing sand. #2 the weeds kill it for me but I see what you were going for. #3 is rich with texrures beautiful light and layers.Weed just gets lost it the sand but nice thought. The last one is very nice. Nice collection all around! Wow the one on ESS is killer dude! :toast:

Great set of photos, at a truly awesome locale. I think 1 and 4 are my faves...thanks for posting these :toast:

The light and textures in #4 are absolutely wonderful. Kind of reminds me of a Palouse shot done in sand! Also love #1.

Nice work (again!), Stan! I like #1 and #4 best. I kinda like the "weed" shot, but it might have been stronger if the weed were a flower or something a little more colorful (not that you have any control over that...).

As Borat would say, varray niiiice!

It's nice to look at familiar spots in a different way, isn't it? #1 is probably my favorite in the group, the lines, color and motion of the blowing sand draw me in to this image. #2 is disorienting, but in a good way! #3 works due to its simplicity. #4 is much more complicated but I still like it because of the intense curves created by the shadows. I love the designs you captured on #5 but there are a few DOF sharpness issues, in the upper portion of the image, especially the corners, it's certainly not a deal-breaker though.

The shadow play in #4 is amazing! These are all excellent, Stan. I might start calling you Mr. Sandman

Awesome images Stan - 2 and 4 are fantastic! Are there any sunflowers getting ready to bloom down there? I'm sure you will provide us with plenty of images when they do. Always wanted to get down there when they start popping up...

Thanks! Michael, there were a couple sunflowers blooming (so i took a bunch of photos of the one nice one!) but most were still 2 weeks away.
