I found this little lake near Cottonwood Pass and thought that it might be a decent place for sunrise. While the sun did not fill the basin as I thought it would, I feelthat it turned out OK considering the lack of an interesting sky. Please tell me what you think.

You're right. Looks like a decent place for a sunrise/sunset.
As it stands here, the light is a bit too harsh making for quite a contrasty image.

I like the comp and the log in the foreground adds interest. Try converting to B&W.

Great comp and great color. Bet this would be awesome in the magic hours.

I like it. I've been to this little gem, but only once, during the Hayman fire year, and the sky and everything below it was a putrid brownish. I never thought a sunrise would work here, considering sunset instead. You proved that theory wrong.

Nice shot, and I agree with John that the light is a bit harsh, which is usually within 5 minutes of sunrise in Colorado, and I know you probably can't wait to get back here in really nice light.

I think the comp really works on this image, and I like it in color even with no clouds, but the processing may need just a couple small things. There's just a few spots on the log (the points on the left and the middle right) where the highlights are strong and could be burned a small bit; I think that would improve on the contrasty-ness that John sees. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing you might have used a polarizer (or the sun was just much brighter to your right) since the blues on the left side of the image are darker than on the right. Darken the whole right-side, especially the blues in the sky and in the reflection and that might address more of the contrast issues.
