The main objective of last month’s trip to the UP was Pictured Rocks. This is a shot of a small waterfall at Miners Beach. This was my first trip to the area in 20 years and it was well worth it. Lots of spring flowers but also lots of mosquitoes.
Not sure what the National Park Service names this falls, but is locally known as Elliot Creek. About 100 feet upstream , it flows through the remains of the foundation of the Elliot family's home. At one time had a paddlewheel in the foundation.
This falls is also extremely popular in October during fall color.
This is a very picturesque spot. I thought it was a bit more photogenic before the tree limb that used to break up some of the negative space in the UL of most compositions snapped off a few years ago.
It has been a few years since I/we did the fall color retreats. Seeing this is just stoking the fire to return this year. Wouldn't be Michigan without the skeeters. Aren't they the state "Bird"?

No, Steve...that's Alaska's state bird!

I sit corrected Toni. They can keep the bird! Still salivating at the thought of a UP trek. Thank you Phil for the inspiration.
