Hi All,

Haven't posted on here for a while - nice to see the quality of images is still top notch!

I was wondering if folks could help me out - I want to want photograph the roost at Snettisham this year and due to the fact that I have never been there, don't really know where to go or to what hide.

Thanks for any help that is offered.

Regards Chris.

Hi Chris

Alot of the best pictures are taken from the little photography hide, only you have to book that from the beginning of the year, and there are limited days obviously due to the tides. Other than that you can just go to the public viewing hides, the two end ones look over the scrape. Obviously you need a spring tide and even then it isn't definate. Not sure where you can get tide tables on the internet or anything but they sell them at titchwell, which is a pain. Pretty amazing watching them retreat along the mudflats as the tide comes in too. Hope that has been some help.

Make sure you post some shots if you manage it

Hi Jack, thanks very much for that.

I thought that the little hide had actually been shut due to photographers disturbing the birds. Maybe I am wrong but will look into it.

Cheers mate.

Chris,

I could be mistaken but I think I remember Tom posting a topic about new restrictions being placed on photographers at that location. If I remember correctly wasn't access to the photographers hide being stopped due to disturbance to birds.
I may have got my wires crossed and the location mixed up, so I stand to be corrected.

EDIT: Posted before seeing Jeremy's reply above.

I guess it is closed then, shame really as there have been some great images to come out of that hide, you can hardly blame the RSPB for doing it though

Thanks to Justin and Jeremy- I shall have a look at the link now.

Jack - Yes it is a shame - I guess it goes to show how irresponsible some folk are!

The little hide has now been removed completely.

My experience having visited the site a few times is that the roost numbers are down, but there's usually plenty to see though.
