High Plains Prairie
This is from Scott State Park in western Kansas this morning. This is probably my best shot from a dissapointing weekend. It rained most of yesterday evening, and when it wasn't raining it was too cloudy for good conditions. This morning the sun broke out just after sunrise for a little before clouding up again. So I went for a drive and when I got back to my campsite, all my camping gear was gone, not vandalized, just gone. I had intended to spend the night at either Monument Rocks or Clark State Lake, but just headed home instead. To top it off, conditions this evening and tomorrow morning would probably be perfect.

Oh well, I guess I'll see if my insurance will replace my old stuff with some shiny new gear. That's what we pay premiums for, right?

Ken, I really like the sky in this shot. Sorry to hear that your camping gear got ripped off! I was planning on camping at Scott Park this fall, maybe I will change my plans! Hope your insurance comes through for you.

I like this a lot, Ken. Beautiful sky, and the warm glow of the plains terrain is very soothing. Splendid work.

It's always an unpleasant shock when someone rips you off, but at least you still have your camera gear!

I like the light, Ken. Sorry about the rest of your weekend. I'm surprised that it happened at Scott Lake, but it just shows crime can happen anywhere :(.

Lovely shot. Nice clouds. I am disappointed to hear that there are thieves in rural Kansas! No doubt they were from somewhere else!

I really like this Ken. You captured some wonderful light on the landscape, it's very sharp and a pleasing comp to boot. The sky has plenty of potential and character with an underpinning of color. With all that potential I'd be tempted to boost the vibrancy of the sky, but that's just me.

More importantly, I am sorry to hear about your camping equipment being taken. It makes us all think twice about leaving our possessions unattended in the future. I hope you have a quick resolution to this unfortunate event.

Nice shot with great comp and wonderful clouds. The colors are very subtle but I really like them.

Bummer about your camping gear. I guess this goes to show thieves are anywhere and everywhere. I hope your insurance helps you out.
