I made my first trip to the Maroon Bells last month after over 20 years living in Colorado. I can see why it's an icon. I was really hoping for a "smooth as glass" reflection, but two geese kept following me around and splashing in the water right in front of me. One of them actually walked over and bit my tripod. Anyway, all comments appreciated.

Todd C. sees, Todd C. likes! Beautiful clouds. You imply you never got a glassy lake, but this is perfect. Is this a reflection, or a clone? Inquiring minds...
I'll take this reflection over a crystal clear one any day, Paul. I like the texture of the water. I'd say this is one of the better Bells photos I've seen. Excellent work!
What they said! Beautiful shot Paul! Dang, I have been deliberatly avoiding that place just because it is so iconic. Guess I will l have to go there now!

Thanks all.
Todd, this is a reflection. If you look in the LLC you can see the ripples. BTW, thanks for telling me where to crash for the night. That worked out real well.
Jack, there were only 3 other photographers this morning and one left as soon as the sun came up. It was really peaceful. I imagine Autumn is a whole different experience.
John, Go! I think it would probably be worth fighting any crowds. I'll probably go back in Sept/Oct.
Steven, you're probably right. I saw a bunch of eggs and thought, "What a great place for my tripod"
That's pretty awesome. I've lived in Colorado the whole of my ancient life and never been to the bells. This is one photo that makes me want to go. Love the clouds!
Excellent work!
One of the best I've seen from here. I'm a real sucker for symmetry and this is symmetry personified.
There's a fairly strong blue cast to the image, though. If you click on the pile of scree at the left with your gray eyedropper, I think you'll find an even more pleasing image.
I've also never been to the Bells, and this really motivates me greatly.
Thanks again, folks. I appreciate the cropping and color tips.

Mouth-watering delicious, Paul.
I haven't been to MB yet, and I hope to get there this coming winter. I'll be flying into Colorado from Florida. What city do I fly into, and what's the closest town with a cheap hotel? I'm not a camper. Thanks.

Very nice indeed. Wonderful clouds you captured. Not much to complain about.
As for the geese, next time don't put your tripod on their nest.

I'd forego a little foreground and some symmetry to have Jesse's suggested 4x5 crop.
