A beautiful composition, a lovely setting. I have tried for some time to get a DW in a situation like this but no luck. This really is splendid, especially the head.
Lovely shot, Guy. I was going to upload a shot of these I got recently, but perhaps I won't bother now.
Out of interest, what general part of the country was this taken in? We have a few on Gower now.
For some 10 years the Berkshire/Hampshire heath populations have increased to quite healthy numbers, but last winter there was a population crash by some 80% or so, not sure if anyone else has noticed the same? where it was easy to see them the heaths are now devoid of birds.
A wintering great grey shrike at one of the main stes didn't help.... it was quite content catching and eating the Dartfords
The Dartford Warbler was taken at Arne nature reserve close to Poole.
Hello John.
I spent two days a first watching and getting used to the singing call and there habits. Once I had got used to there voice it was not had to find them, but they dont stay still for very long. I also noticed they seemed to like the same perch for singing and would come back after a while. A hide was then used on one of the main paths, as the Warbler in the picture just happened to like this Gorse bush.

It's a cracker Guy, I spent a full week in Suffolk looking for one of these and came back empty handed, so very envious.

Superb Guy, I found these all over the place on the hampshire/surrey border last year, but they are much harder to find this year as Mike has mentioned. They seemd to do a circuit around their terrirory and then come back every hour or so I found.
Got the big lens back then, looks pretty good here? No excuses now, you hardly need get out of bed to reach them anymore.
Top shot,
Eric
