The weather was just too nice so I had to get out this weekend. After a nice Saturday drive with the windows down Rachel and I finally set up camp at Grinders Ferry right next to Hwy 65. It was chilly this morning probably below 60. Nice layer of morning fog that was slow to burn off. I hope everyone else had a chance to get out this weekend.
Here is a star pic at ISO 1600. 30 seconds at f4.5. It is a bit noisy but that is just what happens when you cram 14.6 megapixels onto a small sensor.
Be sure to check out some more pics here. I will probably post a few more as I get around to it
Lovely series. I especially like the one with the stars streaking around Polaris. I may have to drive up to the Buffalo one of these days. I assume there are birds there . . .
I was standing knee deep in the water directly below the bridge before 6:00 a.m. I saw a bunch of birds, all kinds. There was a heron about 60 yards away wading out into the fog. You would have been a happy camper. It was to bad all I had was an 18-55mm.
We made it out to the Little Red River today for some trout chasing! Only caught one. It was still a good day to be on the water. Your pics make me want to be out camping instead of fishing. Very nice! My first thought was "very inviting" to go sit or sleep under the stars. The noise doesn't bother me because the image is too good. I like the series too!
thanks Mike. I was wanting to go fishing too. I haven't been up to the Red in about a year. I almost took a pole, but my license is expired and I just really didn't feel like stopping to get a new one. I did find a nice swimming/fishing hole on the Big Piney just a little downstream from the Hwy 123 bridge. I saw two very nice stringers of fish taken out of there.
Only one trout. What were you guys using? I wonder if the cold shut them off for a few days.
Matthew, a nice set series, I alway like the start shots. You picked a great weekend to be out and rare treat to be able to camp without the summer humidity!
