Interesting and very photogenic subject on an equally interesting perch. The diffused green background works particularly well also.
Would have been good to have the creatures rear end also within the plane of focus, but perhaps a smaller aperture might have spoilt the diffused backdrop.
Still a fine image as it is.

Hi Pete
Very nice and different subject, I agree with Justin but have seen your shots elsewhere at a smaller aperture and can understand why you chose this one over the other,Nice and sharp and well exposed, Will have to have a chat about the new flashgun when you finish your vacation

Wonderful shot of this great animal. I like the compo, but I only was a little surprised with the shutterspeed of 1/300. I always stop at 1/200 when using flash.
I'm going te try it. Thanks.

A fine shot Pete, I would have liked to see a bit more of the face. Still a cracker though

Nice to see a different subject Peter, and very nice it is too.

Agree with the comments re: the face, but still a pleasure to view.

Echo what Justin says with the perch adding to the interest of the shot

Thanks for the replies and points made. There are a lot of these around so will be trying to get a better shot over the next few weeks. Renee, I am in south west France at the moment where they are abundant this year. Not sure if they are found in the UK.
