Has anyone had any issues with the view finder on the mk2 in the bright sun. I've been using my for a couple of months but didn't pay attention to it until today when I had an occasion to use my 40D and mk2 on the same shoot. The display in the view finder on the 40D is so much brighter the the mk2 it was unbelievable, I could barely see it. Does any one else have this problem?
Thanks
Carson

I don't have a 40D for comparison, but I do wish my 5D2 were brighter than it is.

I have the same problem with my 5D2. When looking through the viewfinder, the info displayed is so dim its very hard to see. My 1Ds is far brighter and I've never had a problem with it. Don't know if all 5D2s are this way or if there is a way to change it but it sure is a pain in the *ss!
Well I got an answer back from Canon. They said that if I send it to a service center they MAY be able to adjust the brightness. I think at this point I'll live with it.

Hey Carson, stupid question (don't hit me), but when comparing camera bodies, you were using the same speed lens, correct? (meaning, an f/2.8 on each, etc)
I also have a huge dust spec in my viewfinder on mine... not on the sensor, I just see it when looking in the viewfinder. The mirror and screen are clean, I can't figure ut where it's lodged.
Actually I tried the same lens on both bodies just to be sure, same result. I did figure out part of the problem, I wear transitions len's and for some reason they are much more effective in cooler weather than in hot, go figure, so they are much darker in the mountains in NC then in FL where I don't notice the problem as much. The 40D is much brigher and had a larger display then the mkii however.
As for the dust, I have seen some rumblings about this issue in the mkii but don't remember the link at the moment, if you want to send me your email, I'll forward it to you if I come across it again.
