I'm taking my sons down to the 'Blue Hole' in Santa Rosa this weekend for their scuba open water certification. I'd thought about diving but I think I may bum around with the camera and see what I can find.

So if any New MexiCANs or others have any suggestions for locations or anything else (good food!), let me know. I haven't been to that neck of the woods before.

Wish I could help you Kalin but the extent of my visits to Santa Rosa amount to zipping off the Interstate to get gas and zipping back. :frown:

Santa Rosa's a tough nut to crack photographically, Kalin. I haven't spent much time down there, but there is pretty country to be had. If it were me, I would probably go check out all the little villages around Anton Chico along the Pecos (haven't made it there myself). Might be worth picking up a gazeteer and poking around some ranch roads. The Villanueva area on Hwy 3 is definitely nice, with some great little Spanish towns. I drove Hwy 104 from Tucumcari to Las Vegas this winter, and there was some good scenery out there, especially around Trementina and Trujillo. You could find some good stuff in the area if you're adventurous, especially if there's dramatic weather. Have fun and good luck!

Thanks, guys! I'm google-earthing the area. It'll be fun just to explore.
