Roller
I dont know how many images i took but even though i could see him coming from afar, it was just not easy to get them in focus, so a lot my images disappeared in the bin. This is one of the (in my opinion) sharp ones.

Nikon D3
Nikon 4.0/500
FF
Gitzo tripod
Jobu Black Widow

Very well caught indeed Rene. Sharp enough for me, and it stands out well against good BG.

Hi Rene

I prefer the D300 for birds in flight over the D3, Where was this taken? Looks sharp to me-lovely birds

All the best

The lighting conditions seem quite harsh, but you have done well to get a difficult shot.

Like this a lot Rene:smile:

I'm hoping to try and get some decent lilac-breasted shots in a month or so's time

Hi Rene

You don't see many of this species in flight - great capture!

One of my favorite birds Rene, I'd settle for just seeing one never mind photographing one, excellent capture.

Well caught squire - and FYI I'm certain Dave is right about the D3/D300.

My present feeling is that the D3 drives the AF slightly faster than a D300 but with less accuracy.
