British Osprey Fishing
British Osprey Fishing.

Escaped to Scotland 4 days ago and got Ptarmigan, Red Sq and Osprey.

This image was taken from a mobile hide at a Fish Farm and is one of a set of 6 wild osprey pairs that frequent this farm for their youngs/own breakfast.

Weather lousy and light low, Canon (1ds3) focused smack on every time.

500mm/Tpod
400'/F4/800ASA
Normal PS work

Hi Tom

Nice to see a UK bird in such a well composed image!

Perfect timing, good composition and great setting but I feel it lacks the image quality of your osprey post from last year.

John - Agreed.
Mark, the light got better as the day arrived...but the fish got elusive - see above

Nice images. Love the second.

Hopefully 2 weeks up there in August will give me similar opportunities.

I was certain I posted a reply to this after Andy S.

I much prefer the second image Tom - a lot stronger image all round imo even without a fish

Agree, second image is terrific and I much prefer it to the first despite the lack of fish.

Oh yes, I agree the second is fantastic. Lovely to see in the UK.

great pair of images, prefer the first, though 720 pixels hasn't done it justice as the whites appear blown, sure the full size is great though,

intrigued as to what a mobile hide entails, is it just a floating hide?

Here is one fishing 2:1 crop

Jack its an Ameristep Doghouse hide (simply a hide you can move around easily between mornings) i.e. not a fixed structure

second one still tops the three of them Tom.
A much more dynamic shot than the two with fish

Antler and oak????

Hi Tom I can only go very green with envy.. One of my all time favourite birds and to think they are being photographed like this just makes me want to book some time away just now.. Any tips on places to go would be gratefully appreciated by email..

Many thanks for sharing..

Great shots Tom, well you have got to do something that doesn't mean you have to walk far from the car and also through some stingers.
