Redfoot
I can honestly say that i have been trying hard to get different images of Redfoots while in Hungary.

These small raptors are fast flyers and after a day of cursing i managed to get a couple of good flight shots.

I observed this male redfoot for a while, it would regularly fly to the same branch of a dead tree. I pre focussed on the branch and moved the lens and camera slightly to the left, so the branch was out of the frame. Choose a high shutter speed and set the lens to manual focus.

I saw the bird flying in from a long distance low ove the corn field, due to the hard wind, and last moment he would swoop up and then i would let the motor of the D3 rip, hoping and praying i would get some sharp images.

I had to add a bit of canvas at the bottom.

Nikon D3
Nikon 4.0/500
Gitzo tripod
Jobu black widow
1/2500 of a second
Aperture 4.5
manual metering
Manual focus

Now THAT impresses me no end Rene - what a cracking pose (if that's the word) :toast:

Just needs a bit more space to the right to bring the aspect ratio back

No nits from me, great shot of a beautiful bird,

They are one of the few birds that will get me out of bed when a vagrant turns up at our gravel pits, they are stunning birds, especially the males.

Super capture but a little more canvas need on the RHS as mentioned will really strengthen the image. Very nice indeed.
