I have a Canon 16-35mm lens that takes an 82mm filter, and I need a CPL. Hoya works for me, but they make THREE kinds all in the same price range:

-HD Digital CPL
-Pro 1 Digital CPL
-Super HMC CPL

At www.2filter.com they range from $170-$197... which one do I pick?

Hi Paul,

I use the Pro1 Digital CPL and love it! I haven't tried the other two. However if you are thinking about shooting HD video with the 5D MKII then I would suggest the HD Digital CPL.

Actually Paul, I am shooting video with my 5D2... What makes the Hoya HD model the best choice there?

The "HD" title is a bit confusing as it has nothing to do with high-definition. The HD stands for hardened because these filters are nearly indestructible.

Good info Adam. So if I don't need the indestructible version, maybe save a few bucks and get the Pro 1 Digital? It's nice that the HD is so durable, but image quality is my main concern. I'll watch the video part tonight when I get home, most streaming is blocked here at work.

Another advantage (as you will see in the video) is that they are incredibly easy to clean, much easier than most multi-coated filters.
