I am writing a magazine article and one of the places I'm describing is Lost Valley. I can find plenty of places on the web that call it Lost Valley State Park. But not on any official site. I've figured out the campground is part of the Buffalo National River campgrounds. But I can't find an official name for the place. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hopefully Tim Ernst will pipe in on this one. Why are people calling it a state park? Google maps have it labled as state park. Ar State Parks system doesn't have it as one of their state parks.

It's a great park and deserves to have the correct name used. I only know it as "Lost Valley". Goodluck!

I look forward to the article. Make sure you post a link to the final article Mike. :toast:

Hey Mike, for some strange reason the park continues to be listed as a state park on ALL USGS maps, and of course, all other maps are generally taken from those "official" maps. It ceased to be state property when the land became part of the Buffalo National River and the updated USGS maps continue to miss this. The correct title is Lost Valley, Buffalo National River. (the Buffalo is not a national park, but a national River, the first, administered by the National Park Service - clear as mud)

Thanks, Tim. That will work. BTW, this is an article for the AAA Home and Away magazine that goes to 300,000 AAA members in Oklahoma. I referenced your guide books. Who knows how they will edit it. I think I mentioned it to you at the frostbite workshop. I'll send you a copy.
