Painted Skimmer
I hope my memory serves me correctly. This, I believe, is a female Painted Skimmer that I photographed near some property my family owns near Ashdown in Little River County, AR. I would've liked softer light and a smoother background but this little lady still manages to stand out quite well on her own.

Date: 5/3/08, Time: 11:48:23 AM, Camera: NIKON D3, Lens: 300mm f4 Nikon, Tripod: Gitzo 3540LS, ISO: 400, Aperture: 13, Shutter: 1/200, Exp. Comp.: 0.0, Meter pattern: Evalualtive, Focus Mode: MANUAL, White Bal.: AUTO, ICC Profile: Adobe RGB (1998), Full frame.

What beautiful lady. While the bg is a bit busy, the lighting really makes her shine. Well done!

Just beautiful, Charles!

I gotta start savin' my pennies for a D3!! The detail on this is just phenominal.

Beautiful Charles! You caught her in the perfect position to show us all her intricate design in detail. Yes you're right, this image would have been off the scale good if the aperture had been wide open but I'd be proud to have this one in my portfolio.
