I was wondering if anyone has any info to provide on the Wind Rivers Range in Wyoming. I am going on a backpack trip there later this week. I am too wimpy to carry my DSLR gear since I need to keep the pack weight down for 6 days hike, but will be lugging along a G10 with lens adapter w/polarizer and GND filter.
I don't recall seeing any pictures of this range and can't find any in the search.
Scott Bacon backpacked to the Cirque of the Towers a few years ago and returned with some amazing photos. You might check this gallery on his website. Enjoy your trip!
Im still dying to visit Titcomb Basin...what an amazing location! Great area to explore, but you definitely gotta be in it for the long haul. I think Jack B might also have some pics of this area, if i recall correctly. All my shots are pretty lame, i think theres still one of green lakes floating around somewhere...
My wife and I backpacked the New Fork Canyon > Lozier Lakes loop two years ago. Fantastic! Scott Bacon and Jack Brauer both have excellent work from The Winds. There are two excellent topo maps, I believe from Earthwalk Press that cover the eastern and western range. You can put together an unlimited number of 6-day itineraries and see amazing stuff outside of Cirque of the Towers - if you want to avoid the most popular area. Try summitpost.org for more info.

Jack Brauer, Rick Dunn and I did a 6 day trip to Deep Lake and Cirque of the Towers from the Big Sandy trailhead in 2006. Both locations are absolutely spectacular. And although Cirque of the Towers is considered popular, we saw very few people there. The hike to Big Sandy Lake is easy. But from there, all the trails go up steeply and hiking is considerably more difficult (but don't let that dissuade you!). Here's a link to my travelogue. It includes GPX and Google Earth files which you can download and view or plug into your GPS. Feel free to drop me a note if you have specific questions.
Jesse Speer did a couple trips to this area last year. Hopefully he can chime in too.

If you go anywhere near the Big Sandy area, be bear aware. They are very used to backpackers. During the two separate trips I made last year, a bear got into nearby tents.
This information is fantastic and the pictures are wonderful. I am really getting excited about going now. We will be going out from Big Sandy which Jesse mentioned may have bear issues, so we will at least hang our food and cooking items and put our tents close together the first night. We are thinking of going to Cirque then up Lizard Head for a loop. Yahoo.
