A heads up: If you're running the latest Mac 10.5.7, Nikon's NS4.0.2 won't run. I noticed it when I was able to scan and save, but couldn't see a thumbnail and couldn't open a TIFF or NEF file. I spent the morning on the phone with Nikon to learn that "we have people working on it." WTF!?

So, I'm doing a workaround with an ancient Dell and an old version of NS software.........I think I'm getting motivated to scan every slide that has any value and be done with scanning!

That's a bummer. I think I remember a post here a while back that said it wouldn't run on Windows Vista either. View and NX seem to change their interfaces with every update (making you learn a new one all over again). When it comes to software, Nikon really needs help.

Actually, to clarify Joshua's point, I think it will run on 32-bit Vista, but won't run on 64-bit systems. Could be wrong, though.

Thanks for chiming in, folks The genius at Nikon suggested Vuescan as a 3rd party option and I've never seen an uglier scan! Digital Ice was disabled and turned my pristine slide into a no-hoper.

Do you use Time Machine by chance? You could go back to a 10.5.6/earlier version. At least till you're done scanning.
