Shetland Solstice
Muckle Flugga, from the Hermaness reserve at around 3am on the 21st of June.

It looks a bit silly in 720, so a 1400px wide version is available here.

Fuji GX617
90mm
F22
4 sec exposure
Velvia 50
handheld meter.

Scanned professionally, yielding an 850MB tiff that happily prints 70 inches wide

Very nice Tim. It's a pity you can't have the sound of the waves and the birds to go with it.

Even at this size the quality is apparent - the light is stunning. Really like the flow of the composition.

Cheers, Chris

LIght and composition are excellent, the triple diagonal works very well as does the focal point.

Mirror what Brett has said about the wall hanging. Definately one to be framed. Great exposure and composition. Perfect. :toast: :toast:

Thanks for the comments guys, glad you like it.

I spent around 3 days doing nightshifts on the reserve, such a beautiful place and photographic opportunities are constant - whatever you like to shoot.

This does look good printed big, i've done a 65inch wide print and laid it across the dining room table, it looks awesome! Might try and get a collection of this sort of thing going.

A collection? I would be happy enough with one of this quality. Absolutely superb.

beautiful colours and great detail in the large one, all it wants is a pod of killer whales swimming by
