Peaks and Creeks
Since I've been hitting RMNP pretty hard the past month or so, every trip I always try a new location, good or bad. I've been trying to avoid the well known areas, and "get to know" the park much better. It's quite surprising how many nooks and crannies there are to explore. Here's a handful from this past Friday, let me know if this area was worth the 4am rise for.
Canon 5dmkii, Canon 24-105 4L, GND in some, Polarizer in creek shots. Posted in time order.

#6 - I liked how the light had started to hit the Aspen trunks on this one.

Nick I love the creek shots and the flower.

I took some flower shots from close to the same spot as the first two last week. Even though the light is better in th first one, I think I like the 2nd one better since due to the composition. I also like #5 and #6.

My fav is #5, love waterfalls.

A lovely set all  I especially like #5 as it appears to lay good emphasis on the waterfall blending with a crisp image in the foreground.

Love the flowers and waterfalls! Those first two are nice, but the beetle kill depresses the hell out of me. Sad to know that probably 75-90% of our older pines will soon be dead. the other day I even noticed it spreading to the La Veta Pass area--its rapidly destroying the entire state. A very sad event for us nature photographers, and unfortunately theres little we can do about it.

I agree Stan, there's a lot of brown in the trees in RMNP, hard to avoid in any composition these days - very sad. Hopefully we get a colder winter and some of the beetles will be killed off!.

I really like 5 and 6 Nick! I agree with what others are saying about the beetle kill. It's getting harder and harder to find comps that don't show all the damage. Anoither year or two and it will clook completely different up there.

Beautiful stuff, Nick. #5 is also my fave.

What are the white flowers? They are pretty!

The entire series is wonderful, but like the others, the shots of the creek are just superb!
The last two in particular.Must have been an ultra calm day for you.

Really great work there, Nick!

They are all really nice, but that single flower (which you could crop a third off of the bottom) and the waterfall shots are fantastic!
