Excellent tecnical shot Peter but looks a bit "bird on a stick " Its nice to try and get some artistic feel to the background etc. A lot of people go for these plain backdrops but its not always as things are seen . Some more space all around could help too. The bit of twig out of the top of the head draws the eye too, Gamma up a tad.
I bet you think I'm being really nit picking- but I'm just trying to help.
Cheers

I thinks John's comments are valid so wont expand on that.. However detail on the bird is great, nice and sharp. Thanks for sharing..

Jeff, I think you will find it is Niger seed and not something associated with the BNP

Lovely soft light helps control the whites. The Americans love this style of close up portraiture, but it is just too tight in the frame for me.

Never been to america myself, but I still like real close-ups especially at 720 pixels. The only thing I would suggest is that it would be better in portrait format rather than square. very nice.

Hi Peter, the goldie is great but it is very large in the frame, some birds are given impact by being big but others often seem overpowering, have you tried to pull back a little or use a smaller lens and create space around it?
