Wet, Green Maroon Bells morning
These were taken on July 3rd. Though the sunrise was a bust 3 hours later a little sun came through. I almost left twice, but there are worse things than hanging out at Maroon Bells sun or no sun. It was a great exercise in doing "what you can, where you are, with what you have."

This is not the "classic shot" but to me it's still has mood.

Maroon Creek was a beautiful and raging.

Trying to do macro without macro...is this a wild geranium?

Yes it is wild geranium, AND it's my favorite of this series. Nice ones all-'round.

I'd say you did pretty well considering the inconsiderate conditions. I like your FG anchor in #1. It's a different take on an iconic scene which is always a good thing in my book. Way to persevere Cynthia :toast:

Nice stuff and thanks for the lesson in patience and perseverance. I could use a lot more of both. I too, like your anchor and dramatic cloud/light interplay. The wild geranium is really nice with a clean BG.

And you did well, working with what you had. Well done.

I agree with Pamela on the anchor in the foreground. And I'm with Todd on liking the flower shot the most.

These are real nice, Cynthia--the flowers also my fav!

Very nice; I like the dappled light in #1 and the foreground anchor - it's interesting to see the Bells playing a supporting role instead of being the focus. The wild geranium is great - what focal length did you use? Looks like a telephoto from the DOF.

Thanks all...didn't think the geranium would be such a hit. I used my 70-300IS at I think f8 or f5.6, but it doesn't focus until at least 5 feet from the subject, so I backed up and zoomed in (on a tripod, of course). This is when the 1.6x crop factor on a 40D comes in handy.
