With two days of no luck for what I was after, I took a detour over the Dales to see what was about. Always worth a look and found a few stragglers hiding in the dense heather avoiding the beaters. The rest I guess were planning their escape and how to avoid the soon to be occupied, 'gun butts'.
That's a nice one Stephen, I live just below the Swaledale/Wensleydale moors so its always nice to see shots of my little mates They are lying quite low at the moment as the youngsters are still growing up but next month they will be keeping their heads down well and truly. Can't wait for the heather to be in full flower now.
I'm off up there in a couple of weeks, so I hope that they are not lying too low! Great Shot - How long do you reckon it will be before the heather is out?
WOW, having not posted for a while I am staggered by the replies, thank you.
Mike, by positioning the car in hollows/ditches you can change your POV, but this can be slightly hit and miss.
John I think the 'Keepers' are more interested in keeping the numbers high for the paying shooters and not for photographers.
Chris I reckon the heather should be out when you come up, its slowly starting now, but give it a couple of weeks. i would drop Simon an email, he should be able to tell you from looking out the window, LOL
Its all been said about the image, great that you came away with something from your trip. Missed you last Monday on the reserve but I wasn't very well, I'll email you my mobile then you can give me a call next time and I'll guarantee you a little blue killer.

Wonder how many you would see from your car if it weren't for the efforts of the 'keepers keeping the population high?
