It's been awhile since I've posted any images here on NPN/CANP. I've been on a black and white kick lately and thought I'd post one that I took last sat.

I had been wanting to get a good black and white of Agassiz lately and with the clouds we've been getting I headed up towards the Bishop Pass area. Funny that Steve should start posting his Agassiz images last week, I think it was, on Flikr.

I really liked the shape of the cloud, shown here, that formed late in the afternoon over Agassiz.

Thanks for looking!

Cory, can't see the file. Thanks for the info on which lens to take up to the top.

Looks great to me. I like the tones in the conversion. I also like the tension between the mountain and the huge cloud -- it's like they're battling for dominance.

Beautiful, Cory!

Hey Cory, good to see your wonderful B&W post here. The highlights look really good, especially the main cloud. The only nit I might have is it appears like the FG is leaning a bit right, but that might just be cloud cover shadows giving that feel to the scene, otherwise very nice indeed.

perfect placement of that cloud Cory. It's dwarfing Agassiz but mimicing it at the same time. That's not a common thing you see everyday.

thanks for your comments all!

Matt: you hit the nail on the head w/ your comment, as that's what I was trying to convey the most w/ this.

Beautiful scenery and tones throughout. While I like that wonderful cloud formation, I do kind of wish it and Agassiz weren't so centered in the frame. That's merely a personal preference. Other than that little nit, this more than works for me. Good stuff!

Cory,
Really like the B&W on this one. Great job. The comp with the cloud really holds your attention. Best Regards.

Cory,

Great to hear you're still out with the camera. This is a great b&w rendition of a High Sierra alpine scene. Yeah, that's a cool cloud hovering over the mountain peak.

Hope all is well in Bishop.
