I spent thursday through sunday in the San Juan Islands, mostly on Lopez Island this weekend. It was an amazing trip and the weather cooperated very nicely for some great sunsets and other photos. Here is one of my favorites but I definitely got a lot more that I am quite happy with as well.

Amazing color. I really like your choice of foreground arrangement.

The color is so rich it looks filtered. The center third of the photo is especially nice. Did you happen to take a vertical of just that area? Regardless, great job!

Oh yeah! It's the amazing San Juan's orange! What a wonderful shot. In my film archives, I have one with the same color taken off the stern of the ferry. You really captured the glow of it and how the color seems to infuse everything in the landscape during the summer evenings. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for your comments everyone. It really was a very orange sunset, there was an orange glow coming from a layer of thin clouds and reflecting off the water. It does look almost filtered doesn't it John? I actually didn't do any warming of the image in photoshop, the only thing that may have warmed it was the white balance being set to cloudy which isn't something that would make most images overly warm. Maybe I should try changing the white balance to daylight in raw and reprocess it just to see what it looks like with the oranges toned down a little.
