As is always the case, it was a pleasure going through all the images posted in the Fauna Gallery over the past week and a challenge to select the candidates for the weekly pick. Let me start off with the honorable mentions.
The true runner-up this week was an excellent portrait of a Barasingha deer in golden light by Kiran Khanzode in his image post titled: ’Barasingha Deer Portrait’
Although Billy Fairburn’s title ’Impala Sparring’ suggests an image full of action, it actually is a very serene scene of two male impalas engaged in some gentle head pushing in nice symmetrical poses.
Rob Graham’s image ’Supper time’ could have been posted in the Macro Gallery, but I am glad he chose to post in the Fauna Gallery or else I might not have seen it. It sure is a very artistic image of a dragonfly with prey perched on a string of barbed wire, which (to me) is the element that makes the image so attractive.
Most captivated I was this week by Craig Jones’s image ’Hare In Morning Mist‘ whom I have selected for this week’s Pick. This image is a very good example of how simplicity in an image can be incredibly effective by creating a very graphic image with lots of empty space without any distractions. The choice of a very shallow DOF further helped in isolating the subject. The image is also filled with color and atmosphere that make this a wall hanger.
Congrats to all and thanks for posting in the Fauna Gallery!
