South San Juan Sunrise
Here is an image from my quick trip to the South San Juan's made near Elwood Pass. The false hellsbore are a bit past prime but I actually thought the brown and yellow would complement the greens well.
It was a good mornings shoot but when when I was driving out through the Summitville are I pickedup a very large nail in one of my tires with the end result my needing to replace all 4 tires on my Taco. I now have a sweet set of BF Goodrich All terrain T/A KOs, but my bank account is lighter

Very nice Steve! I really like this, and the yellow/green mix on the hellebore works perfect. I think if they were all green it wouldn't have as much impact. Elwood Pass is one of my favorite areas, as I got engaged just over the Divide a Crater Lake. Bummer about he tires though!

I agree with Brent: the yellow gives the hellebore a lovely texture, really emphasizes the shape of each leaf. I've got to get up to the S. San Juans more!

Good thinking. I like the color mix in the foreground a lot. Wonderful light too.

Pretty scene! The yellow sat in the fg feels a bit strong to me, makes it difficult for me to judge wheter there is direct light on the fg or indirect  In other words, the colors look like the product of real low angle warm light, but from the bg it appears that there is no direct light here. Could be the brightness as opposed to the color, all i know is it looks odd to me. Pretty, but odd.

Killer shot, Steve! That nail sounds like the magic bullet theory from the Kennedy assassination. All four tires? Wow, good shot! As for the image, I agree that the past-peak aspect of the helebore is very, very appealing.

(somebody buy Doerzman a new "T" key!)

Stephen....you have a great shot here...great light...but foreground color is a bit strong I think. I might be wrong.... great light on the peaks in distance.... :toast:

Stan and Rajeev
I purposely dodged the foreground to give it some luminosity and trust me, the print looks stunning

That image really pops! Love the color and the detail in the foreground.

Sweet shot and well worth the quad BFGAT purchase, I'm sure.
