Collared Lizard - The Sequel
I've wanted to photograph a collared lizard for the longest time, and despite my many trips to the southwest, I've never had the luck to run across one. Last week in Colorado NM, I finally broke the dry spell. This fellow was posing perfectly on a rock by the road to Black Ridge south of the monument. I didn't even have to exit the car! We just pulled up quietly and I captured him from the window! He stayed posed for several minutes - even allowing us to drive on. Must have been a good rock!

Excellent shot, Ken! Must've been just the right combo of warm sun and cool breeze.

..and I like the fact that you were able to get a shadowed background in order to maximize the color of the lizard.
Good catch!

Perfect! It's cool the tail drops over the rock so you didn't have to shoot a pano to squeeze it into the frame.
