I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and spending as much time outdoors as the weather allows. If not, we have some great reading material during these dog days to help hone your photography skills and provide some inspiration.

This month's Cover Image by Kent Mearig is from inside of an ice cave. The cold, falling water and ice dome should provide plenty of cool thoughts for all throughout the August heat.

In our first article, Ian Plant offers some thought-provoking ideas on composition in Crafting Creative Compositions: An Alliterative Guide to Advanced Artistic Achievement.

Alain Briot, in the first of a four-part series, provides some great advice on Composing with Color.

Darren Huski gives us a photography guide to Bend Bend National Park, Texas, an uncrowded, under-photographed place of striking landscapes and wildlife.

And in It's a Tough Year!, Edward Cooley details the year in the life of a typical black bear cub. There are some great photographs to accompany this essay!

Thanks again to the authors and photographers of this month's edition. Please sign in and leave a comment if you feel compelled to do so. Have a great summer, everyone!
