Gannet Portrait
I was lucky enough to get back on to Bass Rock this year and managed a few portrait shots of the star species of this most incredible place - The Gannet. I had very harsh light the whole day on Bass (not a cloud in the sky) which as you know is not ideal for capturing decent detail on white birds so I am looking forward to feedback on the above image.

Canon 1D Mark III, 500mm f/4, ISO 400, 1/1600sec @f/8, -0.3ev

Thanks for looking

the light does look a little harsh but this is still a nice portrait. A slight shame the eye contact isn't a bit more direct.

Taking in the conditions, its a great shot. You have managed to expose it correctly and I really like the pose.

Considering the light conditions, you did very well. Nice portrait.
