A small Black Ant with a group of aphids from which it was 'milking' their honeydew.

Canon 450D with MPE-65 macro lens at around 3x magnification. F10, 1/160, ISO 100, diffused Speedlight on side bracket, handheld.

Here's a 1000 pixel version.

All C+C welcomed.

Great shot. I tried it myself several times but did not succeed in getting it nicely shot.
Wel done.

I don't do macro at all but this is an extraordinary image.

Yes a superb behavioural image. As soon as I saw the title I thought it might be ant(s) and aphids. Excellent indeed.

Blimey Matt! Cracking image. From previous experience trying to ge as close to these with my 100mm macro and 12mm extension i know hard it is to get these focussed and at a reasonable size. Amazing. Never fails to amaze me with your close ups of nature.
Thanks for showing

WOW! This is so hard to even do badly, that I'm in awe of you doing it so well!! Great composition with the aphids 'enclcosed' by the leg and antennae which really gives a feeling of 'care'. Hats off to you!

Hello Matt
You certainly know how to use that lens! I think the composition of this image is superb, a really exciting, different image very well taken.
