They're on sale at BuyDig.com for $72 with free shipping. I've used this website several times and never had a problem.

I've been using the 3rd party LP-E6 battery from Battery Empire ($53 w/free shipping) for a couple of months now, and it works exactly the same as the Canon LP-E6 (battery level, number of frames fired, etc.).
I've been using 3rd party batteries ever since I owned my first DSLR many years ago, and I've saved a ton of money. I have nothing against profits, but what the camera manufacturers charge for OEM batteries is simply ridiculous.

Somehow I knew you'd find a better deal.

I didn't know that a third-party battery had been made yet. No surprise, the Canon batts were selling for over $100 when the dealers were in the mood to rip us off due to the demand at the time.

Yes, ridiculous!!

I've been hit or miss with 3rd party batteries.

D70, no misses on that one.

5D, 50/50 and one battery i filed down the plastic to get it to fit in there. Not the greatest battery.

5DMII, 3rd party from Adorama, works with some kind of car charger too. DOESN'T WORK AT ALL!!!!!!!!! I threw away the package by the time I figured that out. Let's see how nice they are?

I like to have an original and a canon spare plus the 3rd party. I must have security issues.

Regrettably, it appears Battery Empire is no longer offering that battery via eBay.

Someone already snagged that one, Howard.
If you click on the 'See Other Items' link under 'Seller Info', you can find more here.

It's been amazing what the 5D2 has cost us $$-wise... sure, we get 21mp and HD video for under $3K (amazing, no doubt). But then we can't use our old 5D batteries due to the new power needs of the 5D2, so there's a new investment. Then my 17-40mm now can't cut it with the huge 5D2 sensor (probabably a bad lens copy) so I had to sell THAT and go for the 16-35mm (which is excellent other than price), so then of course I had to sell the P-size Singh-Rays so I could get the 4x6's to fit over the 16-35mm. Of course, THEN I get totally hooked on the video part, and invest in Production Premium CS4 for Premiere and the latest Photoshop so ACR will open my 5D2 RAW files since no ther version can, but of course my 2006 Dell laptop can in no way handle editing video, so now I just built a new gamer PC with the latest Intel i7 processor to be able to edit the wonderfully gigantic 5D2 video files.

I'm so happy about the switch to digital, look at all that money I saved on film. :jump:

Ed. Note: I wouldn't trade this 5D2 and my digital studio and most of all, the amazing photo technology we now have at our disposal for anything other option. I'm hooked!
