Took this yesterday at Paradise. He was chomping on flowers for about 10 minutes, got within 3' of him!
Flowers are pretty good, mostly lupine though.
Took a bunch more shots with the 20D my friend was kind enough to send me, will download those when I get a USB cable (forgot to send that, lol!)
Nice to finally get my hands on a DSLR (albeit an "old" one, lol), got alotta learning to do!

Great catch of this guy in such colorful surroundings. The layers of flowers look good even by themselves, but love the marmot too. Welcome to digital SLRs; the instant feedback is addicting!
Thanks John, he was a very willing subject!
Been using digital, just my point and shoot. It actually has a larger screen than the 1.8'' on the 20D, lol. It's nice to be able to look through a viewfinder though!
Very nice capture, great colors and overall a very pleasing image to view. Instead of USB cable and downloading direct from camera, You can pick up a card reader for under $15.00, a lot easier that way

what a funny shot. I love the pose. Great capture of this moment.
You'll love the 20D. That was my first DSLR and it has a lot of room for growth. I'd second the recommendation to just get a USB II Card Reader. I never download directly from the camera anymore because it used to freeze frequently when downloading from large cards.
Thanks guys, my friend said to get a card reader, that sounds like the best way to go.
Glad you like the shot. Took a bunch with the 20D as well, will post some of those.
Great shot, Joe! Love it. Mostly lupin? Well… how about the paintbrush, bistort, anemone, heather, and, and… a couple I don't know. All in all a terrific show so nicely captured. I was up around Sunrise yesterday, and it looks quite nice up there, too. Dry and dusty, but hey, not many mosquitos and it was a lovely day temperature-wise.
Actually, there is a good variety in this shot Catherine, but overall there's a lot of lupine.
I actually got some shots of a couple of small patches of white lupines amongst the rest, only saw them in one spot! I'll post one when I get a chance to download them.
And there were less mosquitos at Paradise than I expected as well. (At least I didn't get eaten alive, lol!)
I'm hoping to get up at least one more time, maybe Sunrise or Tipsoo. Don't know about this week, hopefully it'll still be good next weekend.
I'm also looking forward to getting up this fall to see the ground turn to fire when the blueberry bushes change, haven't seen that yet!

Great color and a great catch!!!! Safe to assume the flowers near Paradise are in full bloom??
