Here's a few from my recent 6-day sojourn. I've got tons more to go through, but this is a start. I'm trying to post images here in this thread that might be a little different than the Master of the Obvious stuff I usually take. Hope you like...
This first one looks to me like either a painting or liquid metal, hence the topic title.

The trip started on Hermit Pass, which amazingly is still blocked by snow at the very top. I left Pueblo about 30 minutes before a major hail storm decimated my neighborhood.

I was so tired after a restless night that it was a struggle to get out of the bag, even with conditions like those above, and this.

On the way down I took a liking to the incredibly angular terrain. Not the first time I've noticed it, but still, cool to see.

More Hermit stuff. This one reminded me of classic Showalter. I should be so lucky.

Moving on...
Later that day I was in the San Juans, sitting in the parking lot of the Silverton visitors' center, surfing the Web, when I noticed the sky up towards Molas Pass had suddenly turned dark. I headed up there just as a band of showers was moving through, and I and every tourist who drove along this stretch of road captured an amazing double rainbow shot.
Afterwards I headed to Little Molas Lake to wait out the next band. There was another car parked there, with a guy reading. As long as he sat there, I figured he was another photog. Near sunset the rain stopped and the sky began to clear, and I went running down to the lakeshore to shoot a double rainbow and Snowdon Peak reflected in the lake. As I got to the shoreline, I spooked a bunch of ducks, who immediately trashed the perfectly still lake surface. Right behind me was the other guy, who turned out to be the amazing Josh Hardin. I'll post the double-bow reflection shot later.

Here's a few fun shots. This one is simply my color vomit pic. Flowers OOF.
Posted by Todd Caudle on August 5, 2009 at 7:06 PM
And here's some nearby flowers given the Orton treatment.

Here's some flowers on the edge of a lake along the Colorado Trail.

And a closer look. This is the same little lake in my "Monet or Metallica?" intro shot.

Here's a pool full of clouds.

SPDA (Same pool, different angle...)
I figure I can't post 'em all, so that's it for now.
An excellent and eclectic bag of images!
I won't even try to choose a favorite...I like every single one of them
Is that Red Mountain there at the end?

Todd,
Stunning set of images. I love the second shot with the couds/fog though the trees and the Orton paintbrush. Too cool !

Great stuff so far Todd. Favs are the Hermit Pass foggy one and the tremendous/moody double rainbow. Color vomit wins for the best title!

These are all amazing photos, and I hope you post more. Thank you very much for posting.

What a great and varied collection of images! The Hermit Pass and Rainbow shots may be my favorites, but not by much. You had a really productive trip.

Monet most def! I REALLY like the lively colors and compositions in all of the water reflection shots. Very refreshing perspectives and full of life.
(The color vomit shot reminds me of my first shot of whiskey, which went down like a screaming rocket and came back up much in the same manner).

Yikes....2,6, and 4 are my favs. Love that Orton effect in umm whatever number that is.
Yeah, I was going to say, Holy cow #2 is amazing, then saw the rest and Holy cow, they are all amazing! What an incredibly productive trip you had. Great stuff, TC.

Great set of images! Really like 2,3,4, &6 with number 2 being my favorite, the colors are wonderful with the fog transitioning from yellow to blue at the top.
Great set of images your creative juice must have been flowing at a high rate. Never get tired of viewing your images.Your eye for composition is always pushing the envelope.
Wow, and wow again. Awesome series, looks like you got out of town at the right time and arrived at your destinations at the right time as well. 2 is my favorite of the bunch, followed closely by 3,6,1, and the Orton flowers
Quite the variety pack and a couple that are destined for greatness. The double rainbow is simply off the charts and the misty forest is unreal - even for Cloudman! I'm guessing there's at least a few dozen more that you're pretty happy with.

Beautiful images Todd! All are stunning.

Wow, Todd!
I can't decide which image(s) I like best. But I don't have to, do I? I'll take one of each lol. Thanks for taking me there in pictures when I can't physically be there. Awesome images.
