Is anyone interested in an AFRICA regional forum?
If so, please respond in this thread!

My own fear is that if we start splintering the main discussion area, the volume will drop considerably. While I would probably not check an Africa forum, if you posted something on the topic in the general forum I would certainly read it.

I would definitely be interested in an Africa forum, it is something that I have thought about suggesting myself. Having said that, I don't think there are enough NPN members from Africa to make it worthwhile - I can only think of a handful.
I may be wrong though, and I hope I am!

Members wouldn't necessarily have to be from Africa. The Africa forum could be of interest to anyone that has been or is going to Africa. I think it would be an interesting forum!
I hope we get enough interest to start one.

hi julie
as previously sub-mitted on a email, i think this would be a great idea and would definately contribute, hopefully you will get it off the ground
Paul, great place, yes, more people going there, absolutely not. American tourism in Africa is way down, and has been for most of the past year. I work with David Anderson Safaris, and some of the Safari's we listed had NO signups. A year ago, they were filling.
So, about this potential forum, would it be more for discussion of topics related to Africa, or to include the posting of images from Africa?

This would be a regional forum, just like those currently listed in our Forums menu. It would be intended for our members from Africa, but would also serve for others to post questions about nature photography opportunities there.

Jeff,
My experience with African tourism is completely opposite of yours. Our safari business is way up and some of the more popular dates are waitlisted. I suppose it's because the prices are so ridiculously low right now, everyone wants to take advantage before the prices go back up.
It would be nice to have an African forum so that anyone interested in Africa, people that have actually been there, and experts on Africa could all participate in the discussion. Even though I'm from the Midwest, I don't hardly ever visit the Midwest forum because it's not where I like to travel to (since I live here) and not where I do the majority of my photography. I visit the Alaska forum and the Canada forum the most. I would expect, if we had an Africa forum, there'd be a lot of people that may be interested in discussing photography in Africa. Tips and expert advice could be provided from those of us that have travelled that area extensively and/or have first hand experience.

Yes I would find it interesting to share and read about photo experiences in Africa Trym
A lot of people from UK & Europe visit Africa and we include it as part of our UK regional forum - which, despite it's title, at the moment effectively covers the Europe, Middle East & Africa regions.
You, and anyone else, are more than welcome to post images and info/requests in the UKNP regional forum until such time as there's enough momentum & members for it's own forum.
