Garden Spider and prey enviro
Hi all

I've been editing images for most of this week and needed a break so decided to take my macro out the front of the house and see what beasties I could find. Found this garden spider just outside my front door and after getting some shots with the 100mm on, I decided to try some wide angle stuff. This is one of the tighter crops, but I think it works. I'll post some wider stuff next if anyones interested.

Comments and criticism's always welcome.

Cheers

Ian

I like this, particularly the glimps of the creatures surroundings.

Cheers Justin!! I'm really getting into the wide angle macro stuff at the moment. I wanted to get a lot closer with the lens set at 17mm but couldnt get close enough for a decent size subject in the frame. I tried it with a 25mm extension but like Matt Cole found out, it takes the focus inside the lens, which is bizarre. Will have to try a different method/lens.

Just come back to this one.
Great shot. A bit more shiny web around the incy would have been an added bonus - but hey !
They are outand spinning then. Not seen any yet. Crikey ! soon be Autumn.!

Hi John
thanks for the post.. i didnt realise these were seasonal... i thought it was strange that this one just appeared out of nowhere... the flying ants were out yesterday aswell so thought it would be stocking up on food and timed its appearance with the emergence of these. Interesting!

Very nice indeed. I like the way she is balanced by the tiny spider/insect? top right.

a nicely taken shot Ian, as you know I've also been exploring wide angle macro. I think this works well. My only very minor nit is that the brown part of the background looks a bit non-descript and hard to tell what it is.
