Variegated Meadowhawk (female)
I was going back through some old images and found this one of a female Variegated Meadowhawk that I took during the latter half of December 2007. Normally, I see this species closer to the ground either on a pebble or a plant stem. I think it chose this large rock to benefit from the heat it was radiating.

Technical Info: Date: 12/21/07, Time: 11:57:36 AM, Camera: NIKON D300,

Nice, I like this, especially the positioning of the wings and the detail on the closest wing.

I think I would get frustrated trying to capture these. Almost impossible to get deep dof unless you're shooting from directly above. Nice capture.

Great pose, Charles. He seems to be really soaking up the warmth of that sandstone, and the forward wing position gives the impression that he is quite relaxed. Love your work!
