I wish they would visit my garden again, a catastrophic decline over the years . I had six visit for a few days during the winter but not seen any since. Superb image indeed.

Lovely stuff.
One of my favourite birds . We have a flock of about 70 with us all the time but it costs a fortune in corn etc.
They even use the nest boxes put up for redstarts etc.
Good shot.

lovely colours and a very attractive shot. I always worry slightly when I see a bird sitting like this with its feathers fluffed up as I do tend to associate it with poorly birds (particularly finches). Hopefully not in this case though.
Wonderful ,its pictures like this that start a self imposed debate in my mind ,”Is it more satisfying to get the very best shot that I can of a common subject or an acceptable image of a distant lesser spotted Mongolian dwarf eagle that has only been seen in the UK once”. Shots like this convince me that the humble sparrow, for me wins hands down.
Hello Peter
It ticks ALL the boxes, what a great image! Compostion, subject, BG, and the spuggies expression is the icing on the cake.
Best wishes
