Thumbnails Won't Open

I've recently upgraded to PSE 6 and shooting in RAW. When I download my images, the images are there but the thumbnails aren't showing the picture. All the image shows is a "torn in 2 pieces" square When I open in Full Screen, the image pops up but as soon as I close it again, no image shown. What's going on? I have to view in full screen, decide if I want it or not, work on it and then save it in ordert o see the image. Weird...

I can't tell if the above "tech notes" worked or not as I haven't downloaded any new pics. BUT, I did come across something. With my previous pics that show the broken thumbnail icon, right click on the image and click on "update thumbnail". That opens the file. Cool!
