alright chaps, seen a weasel today scrambling up a stream and into an area of thick grass behind were i live. i have placed a log just before the thick grass and laid some dog food on it as bait . Is there any other tips which i could use to get some good shots, and do these mammals use the same area's on a daily basis.

Cheers Lewis

They will usually have a territory that they stick to, and have regular runs that they use.....

Hi Lewis,

A Weasel's territory can be anywhere up to 25 hectares, so be prepared to put in some long hours, I'd recommend using a bag hide if you have one or if not some cheap scrim netting.

A Weasel will rarely scavenge as they prefer live prey, but if Vole numbers are down in your area you never know.

Peter is correct re the runs that they use, most are Vole runs, so check the area for small circular holes in the grass, once you've got your eye in, they stick out like sore thumbs.

It took me the best part of 10 week's to capture this image ( hope you don't mind me posting it on your thread, if so I'll remove it ) so the very best of luck on photographing this cracking little mammal.

Andy...
