Native Stone Scenic Byway
Shot this last weekend after leaving Pillsbury Crossing. It was quite awhile after the sun went down...I had given up for the evening after a very drab sunset. Good thing I was far enough from home to still be on the road for the after-sunset show.

This is a 4 shot HDR, I tried to keep the foreground a bit dark to reflect the fact that it was shot well after sundown. Does it work for you? I'm not sure, I keep going back and lightening the foreground but it just doesn't reflect the time at which I as shooting.

Yep, it works for me.

the dark foreground says sunset but it does seems dark. I bet I would be facing the same dilemma as you, with the light/dark issue. I guess I don't really have any help, but I do like the shot. Good HDR.

Works very well for me. The colorful sky really is the kicker that makes it extra nice.

The photo is quite lovely as is. If you wanted to darken the foreground, a gradient overlay might do what you want, making it darkest at bottom and transparent at the horizon. Just a thought.

Scott, great work with the HDR, the colors in the sky are amazing and the FG looks just right to me.

Scott, the only constructive suggestion I would have is "print it and hang it"!

Nice shot well executed!

it works for me, the foreground isn't overly bright, which compliments the late light, nice job on the HDR

It looks very nice. What was the actual color of the flowers? They appear lavender on my display.

I think it looks great....The flowers are just right. It has that nice early morning blue cast to it, keeping it true to likeness. Great job on the HDR...I'm with Dave, Print it, Hang it!

Your diligence was rewarded with some wonderful vivid color Scott. This should be a great addition to your portfolio!

Love your composition, Scott, and the processing looks quite natural to me. Beautiful work!

Beautiful take. I would clone out the power line.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I feel better about leaving the FG dark now. I'm going to try printing this on some metallic paper and see how it looks.

Larry: the flowers are white, at first I thought they were snow on the mountain, but that isn't what they are.

Ed: That is a fence line running along the right side of the photo, when I get more to feeling ambitious I will work on taking it out.
