Teneral female Black Darter shot with a D3X - thanks to Kev, Brian and Jimbo at TFC :toast: :toast:

This crop is 52.3Mb from the full frame 69.8Mb TIFF - should keep the Gettys of this world mighty happy.

There's a 72dpi low-res version of the full frame here http://wildlifeinpixels.com/img/0809/WIP00045409ffL.jpg

This shot was done 14bit - shot in 12bit, macro shots at least, do seem to suffer a bit, no matter what you do with the ADR settings.

D3X
180 f3.5
ISO 100
1/20th @ f14
Matrix metered
WB Cloudy B1

PP Lightroom 2.4 & CS3

If you do have a look at the big file make sure you view it full size

If anyone wants my thoughts on the D3X feel free to ask off topic.

I do like this especially with the 'due' on the wings and stem. :toast:

Was the AWB set at time of shooting, or changed at processing stage, just curious

My screen just isn't big enough to view it a full size! Lovely subtle colours! Great Detail!

Ah but would you buy an X over the vanilla 3 ? There lies a debate which will no doubt be surpassed by the 4.
Awesome detail in the large version and beautifully presented.

Very nice image Andy. Like the dew on the wings and the BG is very complimentary to the subject. The perch is lovely - do you provide these or do the Dragons choose them themselves? Derbyshire Dragons seem to choose really ugly perches to land on

the detail is impressive Andy and a lovely composition. Is the dragon a little dark perhaps? Could be my monitor.
