.......... was my refrain as squalls of thunder groppel swept across Pawnee Lake and the surrounding peaks on Saturday night. Just before sunset, a small gap allowed warm light to bathe Mount Toll. I'm not typically the most patient guy in the world and was pretty happy about the turn of events (after standing in the same spot for an hour+). Indian Peaks Wilderness.
I'm trying to refine my processing for web and would appreciate any feedback on the appearance of the image. Thanks.

Mother Nature rewarded you for your patience, Dave. The shadow/highlight ratio appears just right on my monitor, beautifully done. Sure beats the contrasty film days with a more natural to the human eye look.

i think it could be sharper-nice lighting and colors! i pushed this in photoshop hit sharpen and i think it pops more. Granted there was some compression due to the pre-processing. You could make it really sing assuming you start with a larger file.

Great light and scene...glad you waited it out!
Looks good to me too, but agree on the sharpening advice.

The light is awesome, but I too agree about sharpening. It looks really soft even at web size.
Thanks for your help with the sharpening advice. I took another look and used Nik instead of unsharp mask. I always try to avoid oversharpening, and go pretty light on web pics.
Sweet shot - glad you didn't decide to bag it and head down! I think the processing looks good, and the image is helped by the sharpening change you made. Looks like compression is hurting some of the finer details here, but I bet this one really sings in a print!
