Murky Shores
Here is an intimate view of the Mono Lake shoreline. Did it a while ago with a D70. Would this almost be an abstract?
Let me know if all that black empty space works.

This feels pretty abstract to me. It's hard to tell what's going on without your description. At first glance, I thought it was a shot of a snow-capped ridge with a stick that was tossed through the air. I think the black space works, especially if you can smooth it out and eliminate the noise (if that's what it is).

Steve,

Abstract in the sense that it's difficult to figure out what's going on. The stick is obvious, but where it is, what the black is creates the mystery. Without saying this was a shoreline and hence the black must be the water, I would be stumped. So, in the end, this makes for a unique and mysterious, abstract. My only nit would be to slightly burn down the branch. There's still plenty of brightness to keep it separated, but a little bright for my taste - especially the smaller, left fork.

I like everything about this except that the stick bisects the fg lines. I could see this even working without the stick, or where it didn't overlap the fg. It's probably just me since no one else mentioned it. Nice to see something a bit different from Mono.
