Another image from my recent hike along the JMT. This was taken on the evening of our 5th day, about 81 miles in. A thunderstorm began to clear just as the sun was setting, and I managed to get a few shots off before the mosquitoes drove me insane.
The wildflowers along this lake's shore were amazing, but this pano moves me more than the intimate shots I took. This is a cropped version of two horizontally-stitched shots.

Looks like caught a faint rainbow up there too Jason. I like the way the light is defining all of the ridges in that middle layer too. Nice work.

Jason,
Fantastic light along the crest. Sorry about the mosquitos, but from someone who didn't have to endure, this was worth it! Wonderful High Sierra image.

This is really nice, Jason. The light along the mountains is great. Have you tried converting this to B&W?
Steve - I didn't even notice that hint of a rainbow until I got this home and viewed it. It was a nice surprise.
Mat - I did try a B&W version, which looked nice. I liked this version better, though. With most images, I'll take a quick look at the individual channels in grayscale, just to see if there is any potential for a B&W presentation. In some cases (not that often) it is an immediate and obvious choice. In this case, I think it could work either way.
If memory serves, the mountains on the crest are the peaks above Little Lakes Valley. The peak in the center is Bear Creek Spire and the other mountains to its right are Dade, Abbot, and Mills, respectively.

Great light Jason. The rainbow is pretty cool but I didn't notice it until I read Steve's post. My eyes keep telling me that image is slightly tilted but since no one else has mentioned it I must be seeing things. Sounds like a great backpacking trip.
