just back from a trip up to the dales with Chris Lloyd, got plenty of grouse, this one from yesterday didn't seem exactly concerned about the imminent shooting seasone, had to whistle to it to get it's head up
40D + 300mm F4L + 1.4 extender
1/800 @ F5.6
ISO 320
slight crop and clone to remove pesky heather stem
Really nice shot,I can see shooting times written on the top!!!!!!
Lovely background and a touch of heather in front, hows the heather looking, fully out?

Brilliant shot Jack, you must have been close! The eye contact really works, any space above for a crop so that the bird is in the bottom of the frame?

thanks for the comments all
Craig - the heather is still fairly patchy, should be best in a week i suspect
Liam - a little space but not a great deal, about 15 pixels more at this resolution on the top, you'll have to imagine it though as my computer is playing up a bit at the moment
