1st attempts at macro + new crop
Hi all

Just trying my hand at the world of macro as its something i've not done much of before and would love to improve my technique.

So here's a garden sipder from last night, and would like to know what you guys think??

Canon 1DSMK3 + Sigma 180mm + Canon ring flash held off to the side alittle.
ISO 320
F14
1/125
RAW

Thanks for looking

looks pretty good to me Kevin. Nice and sharp and well exposed. The composition is a little central, spiders in webs can look good if they're sitting in the top right or top left corner. But a good start I would say.

Yep Looks ok to me. Lot of these seem to have appeared this last few days.
See you next week.

execellent Kevin,

With regard to positioning, if the spider were dead central, i think it would look better (but that is only a tiny nit)

Best

Is this a better crop?

Thanks

Welcome to the macro world you'll never want to leave   . I love things BIF so you've made a great start IMHO. Keep them coming.

Definitely prefer the second one Kev - subtle but beneficial change!

Agree a slight difference but the better for it. The detail and BG are great, maybe slightly smaller in the frame with the comp as mentioned above will be the way forward. Look forward to more of your macro work.

Effective. Have you tried placing different colour card at a distance behind it, it allows you to alter the BG colour to get that complimentary or contrast effect.

Both look fine to me Kevin. If I had to make a choice I think I'd opt for the first. Certainly better then any macro I've done.
