Common darter (Sympetrum striolatum)
Turned up in the garden yesterday. Background is dry butyl pond liner.
Sigma 150 mm.

The detail and colour, even the Bg looks good to me but I'm a bit put off by the composition on this one John.. It just doesn't sit easy when I'm viewing.. Maybe a more parallel POV or slightly in front would have helped.

Its not a bird!!!!Really like the composition,superb detail and background and I know we photographers don't like to hear it but its got a painting feel to it,nice!!!!!

If I was able I would be tempted to take out the stick and pretend it was an in-flight shot. But that would be cheating, :eek: :rolleyes: :smile: :wink: A very nice colourful image nonetheless.

Great detail John, particularly in the wings and the unusual background gives it a different feel. Like it.
